Here
are some helpful questions and answers
for our e-Subscribers:
I missed
an image(s). What should I do?
Make sure you are not using America Online or Hotmail to receive your
images. America Online does not support e-mail sent from anywhere but
another AOL account, and as a result you may miss images from time to
time. Many AOL users never experience this problem, but if you do, remember
- we warned you. Hotmail users have very limited e-mail storage space
- when it fills up, your daily e-mail is sent back to us. AOL and Hotmail
users need to sign up for a free e-mail account with Yahoo!
- they give you plenty of space, and you can check your e-mail from any
web browser on any computer. When you do get a Yahoo! e-mail address,
let us know by sending an e-mail to support@monkeyboygraphix.com,
and we'll update your information in our database. If you do not wish
to get a Yahoo! account, do not ask us to re-send you the missed images.
You will need to wait until the beginning of the next month to pick up
the ones you missed from our website. To download the monthly archives,
go to our homepage and click on
the link that says "e-Subscribers click here to login". Also
note that even a good e-mail account will eventually fill up and begin
rejecting images if you do not check your e-mail at least once a week.
I can't open
the image!
The image may be Zip compressed. From time to time our images are too
large to e-mail without compression. If you receive a Zipped file, the
icon should appear different than the usual EPS files you get. When you
see a Zipped file, this means that the EPS file you need is actually compressed
inside of the Zipped file and must be extracted with a Zip program. Use
WinZip or another Zip program to extract/save the file to a place on your
hard drive you can remember, such as your "Documents" folder.
If you do not have a Zip program installed on your computer, then download
WinZip
- Once extracted, you can then import the EPS file into your drawing program.
Do not attempt to import the file without unzipping it - it won't work!
If you use a Macintosh, you'll need the latest version of Stuffit
Expander - If you have Expander and cannot unzip the file, you probably
do not have the latest version and will need to download it from the above
link.
If the file has been extracted (or was already uncompressed) and still
will not import into CorelDraw, try using one of the "EPS" import
filters instead of the "Adobe Illustrator" filter. Never use
the "All Files" option when importing - you won't be able to
edit the image.
I can't edit the type on the template I received!
The included type, such as "School Name Here" is for placement
only and is meant to give you a creative idea. You will need to delete
this and retype it using one of your existing fonts. One of the best things
that can happen to your designs is to use cool fonts. Don't simply use
the fonts that came with your computer... they are overused and better
fonts are available. Here are some links to sites where you can purchase
some great fonts to make your next job rock: House
Industries Adobe
Systems | Eyewire
| Emigre | Fonthead
Design | G@rage
Fonts | Active
Image's Comic Fonts. Remember that fonts may seem expensive, but they
are worth it. It may be the one thing that will set your designs apart
from your competition. For those of you on tight budgets, try searching
the Internet for free fonts - they're everywhere. Use a search engine
such as Webcrawler
or use your web browser's built-in search feature. Once you put your own
type in the design, you can convert it to outlines/paths and then warp
it's shape using your drawing program's included features or 3rd party
plug-ins. Many people use a special program just to get cool warped type
- try the latest version of TypeStyler.
CorelDraw includes many built-in filters for distorting type; if you're
not familiar with them, crack open your manual or buy a book on CorelDraw
from your local bookstore or online at Amazon.com.
I can't get
into the e-Subscription area to get my monthly file(s)!
1. Make sure you turn off your "Caps Lock" key when you type
in the username and password. The username and password are all lowercase.
2. Make sure you use the username and password you received in your latest
e-Subscription e-mail. We rarely change the login and password, but it's
a good idea to make sure you have the latest information.
3. Don't type quotes before and after the username and password.
4. Make sure you have the latest versions of your web browser installed
on your computer.
5. If you're using America Online, try connecting with AOL, then get to
our website using Internet Explorer or Netscape (instead of the built-in
AOL browser). We actually recommend you surf the web this way all the
time - AOL's built-in browser just doesn't work as well as Internet Explorer
